The Don Price Performing Arts Chapel is a dazzling new jewel on the campus of Monte Vista Christian School, a private school in the Bay Area. The $10 million, 450-seat venue debuted in 2020 and hosts performances for the drama and theatre program at this Watsonville school. The idea for a performing arts chapel building was first envisioned by Don Price, who led MVC for 38 years and wished for a chapel/performing arts complex at this Morgan Hill-area school. He understood the value of the arts in the life of a student, consistently casting a vision for what a chapel and performing arts facility could mean for Monte Vista and its students. Don felt strongly about the key role the arts can and should play in a well-rounded Christian education, and was faithful in keeping this need before the MVC community. It is, therefore, both a joy and a privilege for Monte Vista Christian’s current leadership to honor Don’s vision by having named this new performing arts facility in his honor. Two big classrooms, a fully-equipped stage, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting are included in this gorgeous new high school theatre in Santa Cruz. Middle school and high school theatre productions and musicals, chapel services, school meetings, and community activities are all held in this venue near San Jose.
